Eating out in central London right now?

Its been nearly 5 months since lockdown in the UK started and things are slowly coming back to normal. Its the first time I have personally been into central London since the pandemic started. Here is my first experience dining out in central London since lockdown at the OXO tower restaurant.

OXO Tower Restaurant

Our dinner reservation at the OXO tower restaurant. Up on the 10th floor of the OXO tower, is a beautiful modern and spacious restaurant with an amazing view of the London skyline.

We successfully secured our dinner spot on the terrace on one of the hottest days in London. Perfectly timing our visit to see the sun setting, for ending to my birthday celebrations.

OXO Tower Restaurant’s COVID 19 response and safety procedures

Before arriving at the restaurant, allocated walkways were marked out with hand sanitising stations in the lifts. Operating on a one-way system through the double doors ( which did get a little confusing on route)

Following from that, we were the greeted to more hand sanitising stations at the reception, bathrooms and waiting area.

The staff were really nice and friendly and walked us to our table, whilst keeping a distance. Once seated, we were able to access the menu through the QR codes from our table.

The procedures and precautions that the OXO restaurant has in place made us very comfortable about the entire dining experience. It allowed us to eat with peace of mind knowing that the food was prepared with extra precautions.

The OXO Restaurant food

We ordered Hand dived Scallops for starters which were served with swiss cheese and sour cream mash, garlic girolles, black cabbage.

For mains – I ordered the Duck breast, crisp confit fritter, honey lavender fig, pistachio crumb, charred baby turnips, cep puree26. My boyfriend ordered the 28-day dry aged fillet steak, smoked cauliflower puree, cauliflower cous-cous, English garden peas, pea cress, charred pearl onion, spiced date puree.

Unfortunately, the portions here with the addition of truffle fries meant that we had to pass on dessert.

Final Thoughts

I would 100% come here again, I have never been here before but it has been on my list of restaurants I want to visit. Now I will definitely come back in the future to try their brunch buffet.

The decor is really nice and modern and the terrace which gives you a beautiful view of the Thames is well maintained. The staff are extremely nice and incredibly professional and made the experience very enjoyable.

Overall, we had a lovely time and a nice change of scenery from home life. Hope you enjoyed this blog post, check out more of my London food stop reviews here and stay safe.
