Livraria Lello what you need to know about this beautiful bookshop
Livraria Lello is one of the most beautiful Bookshop in the world, and is the bookshop that inspired the wizarding world of Harry Potter. This place is definitely not one to miss if you’re in Porto.
How to get to Livraria Lello | Porto Bookstore
Livraria Lello, R. das Carmelitas 144, 4050-161 Porto, Portugal
The bookstore is more towards the west of the city centre but still very accessible to get to. Near by the Igreja do Carmo and Igreja dos Clerigos Churchs which you can check out in-between visiting the bookstore.
You can grab a tram which is only a few metes away from the store. The near by tram stops – Carmo Stop ID: CMO3 and Guilherme Gomes Fernandes Stop ID: GGF1.
When is Livravia Lello Open?
Every day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m – They are closed during holidays so do check before traveling.
What you need to know before visiting Livraria Lello
For Adult Entry (over 4 years old) to the Livraria Lello bookstore, you will need to purchase a 5euros voucher which you can use to get 5euros off any book at the Livraria Lello store.
Children up to 3 years old have free entrance as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
You can buy the vouchers online or in person. Note – this might also include service charges

In Person – To buy tickets on the day in person, you’ll need to pop over to the Armazéns do Castelo near the bookstore a few meters aways and purchase a normal ticket. We were told that we were not allowed to bring backpacks in so do keep that in mind when planning. The store also have lockers here to put away your stuff.
Online – Once you purchase the voucher online, you can make your way straight to the Bookshop entrance and show the online purchase of the voucher.
Livraria Lello is a very popular destination in Porto so do keep that in mind before going. It was very busy whilst we were there so best to go as late as possible if you can.
Inside Livraria Lello bookstore
Livraria Lello recently renovated in 2016/17 restoring the beautiful stained glass windows and interior structure. We spent about an hour here admiring the beautiful interior of the shop. There is a seating area upstairs if you’re lucky enough to get a seat.
